- measured kibble
Set up
Clean the floor area. Rugs with low pile make it a bit harder; hard floors make it easier.
How to play
Scatter a small handful in a tight area your cat can see.
Next time, scatter wider across the room.
Toss single pieces one at a time so they skitter and your cat chases each one.
Try a low-pile rug or a snuffle mat for extra sniffing.
Check corners later and pick up anything left.
House rules
- Measured food only.
- Clean surfaces.
- Make it easier
- Tight scatter on a hard floor.
- Make it harder
- Wide scatter over rugs, or into a snuffle mat.
Signs it's having fun
Busy searching, tail up, chasing tossed pieces.
Stop if you see
Tension between pets over the food.
Safety
- Not for homes where a dog will hoover up the kibble; feed in a closed room.
- In multi-cat homes, scatter in separate rooms so no one guards the food.
