Round the corner for cats: how to play
The toy peeks around a doorway or the end of the sofa and vanishes. Your cat learns to wait, plan and ambush.

You'll need
- long wand toy
- a doorway or sofa end
Set up
Stand on one side of a doorway or behind the sofa, with your cat on the other side. Only the toy should show.
How to play
Poke the toy around the corner at floor level. Twitch, then pull back out of sight.
Wait a few seconds. Peek out again a little further.
Let it run across the open doorway once, then disappear.
When your cat creeps up and waits beside the corner, let the toy come out slowly right into its ambush. That is the catch.
Switch corners or switch height (floor, then the top of the sofa back).
End with a slow final catch and a treat.
House rules
- Patience pays: the ambush must work.
- The toy peeks out, it does not charge out.
- Make it easier
- Peek out more often and stay out longer.
- Make it harder
- Use two corners (a doorway and a chair) and alternate so your cat must guess.
Signs it's having fun
Waiting flat against the corner, head peeking around, sudden pounce.
Stop if you see
Frustration (vocalising, leaving), tail lashing, swatting at your feet.
Safety
- Store the wand afterward.
- Keep doors propped so they cannot swing onto your cat.
